Can I get a DUI for riding an electric scooter drunk on the sidewalk in Denver?
My cousin's house is about a mile down the street from mine and lot's of the time when we hang out we have a couple of beers. My son just got a new electric scooter and I was wondering if I could ride that and be safe? I have a feeling the answer is no.
P.S. Scooters are cool.
About the public intoxication. What if I wasn't drunk but just had a couple of beers. I have a drivers license and 2 cars but I would ride the scooter if I was over the limit.
Jake your calling me a girl? You may see my scooter parked outside your mom's house tomorrow night. Don't worry ill take good care of her.
Grumpy old man you say you WALK a 6 minute mile???? Have you ever seen the Comcast commercial when the put the high speed on the speed walker with the treadmill? That must be you. Do you people not understand my question. I have a couple of beers at my cousin's house and would rather not drive home. Would it be LEGAL to ride the scooter. I am not talking about being wasted but just one beer over the limit and playing it safe.
A 6 minute mile is 10 miles per hour. That is a damn good pace for an old man, especially walking.
Yes you can get a DUI for that.

You would not get a DUI, but you would get a Public Intoxication charge. DUI pertains to motor vehicles on the roadway.

i dont believe that they would give you a dui but they would give you a public intoxication charge

motorized vehicles are intended for the streets, not sidewalks….unless you are so drunk you cannot tell the difference
ps scooters are for girls

Yup, you can get a DUI, even though you're on the sidewalk and your driving a dinky scooter. Heck, you can get a OWI riding a bike cranked up. You arent really a threat to yourself, you're a threat to others.

The laws state “vehicle.” This is all-inclusive! Skateboards, scooters, bicycles, boats, horses, goats, riding mowers, in short anything that will transport you. I’m surprised that they haven’t arrested people for going on an elevator or escalator. Short of walking/running, about the only mode of transportation that I’m aware of that isn’t considered a DUI are roller skates and or roller blades.

I think your son should have a talk with you about being intoxicated in public and for using his scooter while under the influence. He shouldn't put it off until you grow up because it could then be too late.

I am old and I walk 6 minute miles. You should try it.

Despite what the retired officer said, I had a cousin who got a DUI in California for driving home drunk from a bar in his wheelchair. He was so drunk he drove off the sidewalk and fell into the street. DUI.
I suggest you consider a taxi as part of your going out expenses. You probably spend at least that much in beer/shots. Maybe even that much on tips. You would definitely spend that much on a DUI. Plus, you would get to know one taxi driver and they would probably end up knowing you and sometimes giving you deals and whatnot. Because you being responsible would be helping them make a living.
Everyone wins.

if you are drunk you have impaired judgment.
you are dangerous to your self and the public
Ask George Jones………. they got him for DUI on a riding lawn mower………
p.s. leave your sons toy along.
you are too big to be riding his toys and tearing them up.
Get your own toys………..lol
